G-Shock History

The G-Shock watch was first designed by Kikuo Ibe for Casio and released in 1997. The watches steadily grew in popularity until 1998 when over 24 million G-Shock watches had been sold around the entire world. This incredible sale rate is due not only to their tough nature but also their durability. For example the Cockpit Series is the official timekeeper of Nismo racing.

G-SHOCKは1983年に当時開発者であったCASIO伊部氏の「壊れない時計を作りたい」という強い想いから誕生した。発売以降、徐々に人気を博し1998年には世界で累計2,400万個を売り上げる大ヒットシリーズとなった。この結果は、単にG-SHOCKの頑丈さをだけでなく、耐久性にも優れていることが理由として挙げられよう。G-SHOCKのコックピットシリーズはNISMO（ニッサン・モータースポーツ・インターナショナル）の公式タイムキーパーとして使用された実績がその好例と言える。

Incorporating features from the early vintage G-Shock watches, such as its rugged durability, shock resistance, highly accurate stopwatch, countdown timer, and water resistance, as well as with features available on newer G-Shocks, such as atomic clock synchronization and Tough Solar function, Casio has elevated Gshock watches to a new level of functionality that has made the G-Shock the choice among adventurers.
